WHY WE EXIST
Providing more accessible early childhood education to Houston's low-income families
Eighty-five to ninety percent of brain development occurs in the first five years of life, with the young brain forming about one million new neural connections every second. Quality interactions with adults in a safe environment are crucial for healthy development during early childhood, shaping better outcomes later in life.
In Houston, however, less than one-third of children from economically disadvantaged households are ready to succeed in kindergarten. This means that two out of every three of these children start school at a significant disadvantage, risking falling further behind as they grow.
PARTNER HIGHLIGHTS

We are excited to announce a new partnership with Nabor House. Nabor House Community invests in the growth and development of low-income children and their families by providing quality, affordable early childhood centers in a Christian environment, enabling parents to pursue employment or education.
Improving Early Childhood Education In Houston
Strong Start is partnering with Collaborative for Children—a not-for-profit that has been working for 35 years to ensure that at least 70% of children show growth toward school readiness.

Our work will focus on Collaborative’s Centers of Excellence program, which currently includes 65 childcare centers in childcare deserts with an enrollment of around 3900 children.
